Abstract:
Nowadays, billions of videos are captured, hosted and shared in the cloud, and the world has stepped into a multimedia big data era. As an active and interdisciplinary research field, multimedia big data presents challenges and opportunities for multimedia big data computing. A vast amount of research work has been done in image processing, targeting different aspects of big data analytics, such as the capture, storage, indexing, mining, and retrieval. However, the video processing is much more challenging since both spatial and temporal features of video data need to be considered. In this talk, I will focus on video big data computing, I will illustrate the challenges when we move from image data to video data computing. Then I will talk about applications and the potential future directions in video big data analytics, such as near-duplicated video detection, action recognition with very small learning samples, and information fution of visual and textual contents.
